and heres it from the bride itself:
How They we Met
“I have always been a fan of the movie ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam,’ and funnily enough, Sarthak and my love story seems just like a plot of a Karan Johar film (minus all the drama). I saw him in January 2011, at a cousin’s wedding and it was love at first sight. At the time I was only in the first year of college, yet, I knew he was the one. I had never felt so sure about anything. We got talking and started seeing each other soon after. Eight years later, here we are married to the love of our lives!”
Wedding Venue
“We had dreamed of a big fat Punjabi wedding, and we would have it no other way. All our wishes of a lavish celebration came true at the Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa in Sri Lanka. The property was splendid, and its location by the waters made it possible for us to have a wedding at the beach front which is something that we really cherish.”
Wedding Planning
“Our wedding was planned by Shanqh Luxury Events, and without their effort, it just would not have been the same. I have dreamt about my wedding since I was about 10 and they gave me exactly what I had imagined. We danced through the night, and these were the two happiest days of our lives where we were surrounded by the best set of people. I don’t think it could have been any better and we are grateful that we got to start a new chapter of our lives in this way.”
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
“The decor for our mehndi was very colorful, and the focal point of the setup was a large ring that was created using branches and decorated with blooms in bright colors. Floral centerpieces, table runners in deep hues and a multi-colored checkered dance floor with paisley patterns were a part of the setup as well. Sarthak and I wore outfits from Anjul Bhandari. While I went with a pastel green chikankari and mukaish garara he went with a kurta and pajamas in the same color.”
Engagement
“Our engagement ceremony had a very whimsical vibe. We used lots of white flowers and the arrangements were accented with green foliage. The entrance was lined with candles and tables in the ballroom which followed a black, white and golden color palette. A pink mukaish lehenga by Anjul Bhandari was the outfit of my choice for this event, and Sarthak went with a black suit from Zegna.”
Haldi
“The following day began with the haldi ceremony at the property’s lawn next to the beach. We used white and yellow for the setup decor. We had a charming backdrop that incorporated branches to create a flat arch that was adorned with flowers. Glass bottles filled with blooms were suspended from it to add to its beauty.”
Wedding
“The colors for the ceremony were peach and white, and our mandap was smothered in flowers of these hues. The backdrop for our pheras was the expansive ocean and the ambiance created was utterly romantic. I wanted to look every bit like a traditional Indian bride which is why I chose to wear a red lehenga by Sabyasachi. Sarthak went with a white achkan by Rohit Bal.”
Reception
“For the reception, we moved indoors. However, the decor here was an extension of the one that was created for the pheras. The corridor that led towards the ballroom was lined with floral arches, and we even created a corner that featured pink, peach and golden drapes, floral arrangements and lots of candles. The venue looked stunning and had an element of dreaminess.”
